Someone wanted to learn a little text animation, so here I go.
This can be used for other things besides text too.
First, we start in Photoshop. You're gonna need 2 or more text layers of course.
Time to make the jump. At the bottom of your tools menu is a button that has an arrow pointing to the ImageReady icon.
Press that or Shift+Ctrl+M.
Welcome to Photoshop's partner. To start, you have to make sure you're ready to make a gif.
Look in your top right corner for a box that has the Optimize tab.
You want to make sure it's set to GIF.
If you don't see it, go to Window > Optimize.
Now in the bottom left corner is your Animation Palette.
This is where the "framework" will happen."
You'll notice the layers are the same as when you left off.
Important: Visibility plays a big role here.
Be sure to have the text you want shown first visible. (The Eye is there)
Now we get to work. Go to the Animation Palette and duplicate the current frame.
The button looks just like the New Layer button.
You will end up with this:
Now you turn the eye off on your first text layer and turn on the other layer.
First Word:
Second Word:
Next comes the tweening. The button has 4 circles fading.
Box pops up and you input the settings. Be sure to have the second frame selected. I chose 8 frames.
You'll see added frames to your animation. They should all say 0 Seconds on them. I like to change the delay of the last frame created to add a little pause. just click where it says 0 seconds and you'll see some delay choices.
This is where some people mess up and end up with something like this:
We won't have this, I will make sure you have things run smoothly.
While having the last frame selected, press the tween button again. This time you want to go from the end to the beginning, so you tween it with the first frame.
More frames will come, but they will all have the delay as the other frame. Instead of changing each delay time, select the frame after the delay, scrol over to the frome before the final one, hold shift and click it. Then you can change the delay like you did before.
Now you are done. It's good to preview what you've done. Check the Tools Menu and look for the icon of your browser.
Now you got something nice like me.
